And I don’t mean killing in a good way. I mean literally stabbing it a thousand times in the jugular.
For one, glee. I apologize if what I say offends any glee fans out there, but if you like glee, you seriously need to rethink your taste in vocalists. I have not heard a single voice on glee that I have actually liked. I can count a million different songs they have ruined. Countless classics and new songs. Honestly, two of my biggest annoyances with the song choices are Queen and My Chemical Romance. I fucking love both Queen and MCR. I hate that they covered Queen because Freddie Mercury’s voice is so insanely unique and powerful that literally no one can compare to him. It is super difficult to pull off a Queen song, and quite frankly, glee did not pull off any Queen song they’ve covered. Secondly, covering My Chemical Romance is a no no in my book. MCR is a band that I’ve listened to for quite a while, and they’ve become my go to band when all goes wrong. I listen to the Three Cheers album when I feel unhappy, and Danger Days when I need a reason to be happy. Now, I’m not saying they shouldn’t cover MCR just because they mean so much to me, I’m saying they shouldn’t cover MCR because previous to Sing and maybe Welcome To The Black Parade, they got close to no radio play. Their fan base is not brainless conformists who like what ever is on the radio. My Chem fans are dedicated, die hard and stand up for them like their own family. I would bet you a thousand dollars that the producers of glee only chose Sing to put on the show because it was so popular, I highly doubt the meaning was considered. Yes, it is a meaningful song, but without it being popular, it would not have been on the show. I’m also against it being on the show because I personally hold Gerard Way on quite the pedestal. Not only for his talent, but because he’s a strong person who has come a long way, and that shows in his music. These are only two of the bands they have disrespected by using shitty vocalists, simpler mixing, and horrid off key note progressions to alter their music. There are countless others. Don’t like my opinion on glee? Suck a dick, because your opinion does not matter to me, and there is no way you can justify it.
Secondly, the music that is popular now is quite horrid. Yes, there have been a few songs that have been popular recently that do deserve applause. For example, many of Adele’s singles, We Are Young by fun., Somebody That I Used To Know by Gotye to name a few. Most of which are heartfelt, emotionally expressive songs (with the exception of fun. they’re just good.) However, every other song I do hear on the radio is complete filth. Let me give you a few examples.
- “Rack city bitch, rack rack city bitch. Ten ten ten twenties on your titties bitch.” It is not okay to call girls bitches, we’re humans, not dogs.
- “You a stupid hoe, you a, you a stupid hoe. etc etc etc” We get it Nicki, she’s a stupid hoe. You don’t need to say it eight thousand and forty two times.
- “So what we get drunk, so what we smoke weed. We’re just having fun, we don’t care who sees.” - I’m convinced this song is entierly about smoking weed. No, I am not against smoking weed, I believe it does have medical uses, but if you need to smoke to have fun, you need to reconsider your life choices.
- ” You gon’ get some dick today. Ass ass as ass ass ass ass ass ass ass ass..” So on and so forth, that is disgusting. You like asses, keep that in your bedroom buddy, because I do not care to hear a song that repeats the word ass.
Honestly? How did this become socially acceptable? To change from songs with meaning, to songs about money, girls, sex and it being okay to call a girl a bitch? I don’t understand. I like to think there are millions of other people out there with the same views I have on this, but then I’m reminded that the world is full of stupid people.
Completely unrelated, but another thing I do not get about the majority of society is bullying. Whether it’s via internet, verbal, physical or anything else. EVERYONE does it. I even do it. Unintentionally of course, but we have all hurt someone else with our comments. But no, that does not make it okay. How many news stories are there telling of children who committ suicide because they can’t take being made fun of anymore? Honestly. I don’t understand it.
Was it something that didn’t get passed on to our generation? Am I the only one who feels that we’re doomed? I just wish that something could restore my faith in humanity. I apologize if this has wasted your time.
